Stamp Out Prejudice Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere

I first read about the Sophie Lancaster story here. I was shocked to learn that there is still so much hatred and ignorance in the world. No, I don't live under a rock, so I do know that there are terrible things that happen everyday, but its so shocking to hear about something like this happening. And why? Because they were different? It's heartbreaking. This world has come so far. We have overcome past hatred, we have evolved, and yet things like this still happen. When will it end? Will we all ever be able to live in peace? We are all different. We are all unique. But we are all HUMAN! Short, tall, skinny, fat, boy, girl, old, young, black, white, or polka dotted, we are all human. We all deserve respect and love and same opportunities as everyone else.  We all deserve to be happy. I know I am not the only one that believes this. I know there are people out there who love with open hearts and open minds and accept others as they are. I just hope that in the future, there are more of these people.
*Sorry for going off on a rant but I needed to say this.

Band Review: Forever the Sickest Kids

I was going to do a concert review over this band but realized I have seen them more than a few times and should probably do an overall band review. Hope you enjoy!
*All info and album photos are property of FTSK and found on google.
Forever the Sickest Kids is an American pop/rock band from Dallas, Texas consisting of Jonathan Cook - Lead Vocals, Caleb Turman - Guitar and Backup Vocals, Austin Bello - Bass and Backup Vocals, Kyle Burns - Drums, Marc Stewart - Guitar, and
Kent Garrison - Keyboards. Their first EP Television Off, Party On was released in July of 2007, followed by their debut album, Underdog Alma Mater in 2008, The Weekend: Friday EP in 2009, and their self titled sophomore album in 2011.

The Weekend : Friday EP
Sophomore Album
Having been to four of their concerts, all at different venues, I can say that they are great live. Unlike many pop/ punk/ rock bands, their songs are not all autotune and no talent. They are energenic and hilarious on stage. They are very down to earth and seem to genually care about their fans.
Here are a few photos of the band live and when I met them.
*All below photos are mine unless stated otherwise.
Jonathan Cook. Not the best quality photo but oh well....
Same show, again, not great quality, but I tried!
And now some photos where I met them. :)

Although I have already seen them many times, the next time they are in my town, you can bet I'll be there!

We are the Children of Music

We are the children of music. We live in glass houses where A Day is To be Remembered, the Devil Wears Prada and Tonight is Alive. We will Forever be The Sickest Kids, the All American Rejects, and even at our All Time Low's, we can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business. We stand by the Bayside as August Burns Red and the Summer Sets and We wait for our time to be The Kings. We are Pretty and Reckless. We are the children of music.
*Let me know how many of the band references you catch. ;)
*The band names belong to the band members. This random monologue was created/belongs to me :)

My First Concert (kinda)

Here's my first installment of band/ concert reviews! And what better way than to start with my first real concert? (I saw Hilary Duff when I was ten but I don't usually mention that so shh.....)
This concert was the day before Thanksgiving 2009 and I was a very last minute affair for me.  My friend ended up with an extra ticket and I asked me to go with her only 2 days previous.  I was more than a bit excited since AAR is one of my favorite bands and has been for a very long time. I had heard Anberlin and TBS before and knew that this concert was going to be amazing. When we got to the venue, me, my friend and her brother hit the merch tables before merging in with the crowd. Anberlin was up first and they gave a wonderful performance and sparking my interest in their music. (I'm a huge fan now, although I prefer their older stuff.) After their set my friend and I stood to the side and tried to cool off a bit.  We soon got a phone call from her brother saying we needed to get to the merch tables in the side bar.A bit confused, we headed that way. This is when we met Anberlins guitarist.
Joey Bruce and I
Excited and hyped up on adrenaline, we ran back to the stage to see Taking Back Sunday. I have to say they are one of my favorite bands to see live. They are very energenic and keep up a witty banter with the crowd. Soon after them, the All American Rejects took the stage.
We were pretty far back, but you can still see Tyson striking a silly pose in this photo
I was thrilled. We jumped around and screamed along to the lyrics (although he changed the words up a few times, for reasons unknown). About half way through there set, we received another text. Get over here if you wanna meet Adam Lazzara from TBS. Needless to say, we ran like hell. Not wanting to seem like stalker fans, we gave him his space and let him talk to a few other concert goers. As soon as he wasn't busy, we casually aproached and asked for a picture. He was very freindly and was more then happy to take a picture with us.
Me, Adam Lazzara, Hailey
We caught the last of the rejects show, then made our way out of the venue. I was exhausted and sweaty but happier then you would believe. This may sound a bit cheesy but this concert confirmed my dream of working in the music business. I will never forget that night. I'm so glad Hailey had an extra ticket (and that her brother let us know everytime he saw a band member. Thank you Cameron!)

X-Men :First Class Review

When I went to the movie this past week, I was not expecting to see the latest installment of the X-Men trilogy. However, due to an incident that I am currently trying to resolve (must get license) this is what my friend and I ended up seeing. having never seen any of the other movies I wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say, I was impressed.
I don't want to give to much away so I will just give my overall opinion of the movie.
I was expecting to be very confused due to my overwhelming lack of X-Man knowledge, but the plot was actually quite easy to follow.  The acting was great and the costumes and special effects were pretty good as well. We saw the movie in 2D and I wish we would have been able to see it in 3D. (but hey, what do you want for a $2.75 movie). This movie gets a thumbs up from me!
