Update

Well, I survived giving my first speech!  I didn't do as well as I had hoped I would, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  It helped having an old friend in that class so I didn't feel alone.

I also have a few old friends in my Art Appreciation class, one of which I haven't seen in 3 years.  It's amazing how much can happen in that amount of time.  He graduated when I was a sophomore, and since then he has done so much, including living in Asia for six months. He's a crazy artistic goofball and I'm glad he's back in town.
That's about all I have for you guys right now.  Hopefully I'll have more interesting post coming up.  Hope everyone has a good week!!

ParaNormaN

Last night, Hailey and I went to see ParaNormaN.
And it. Was. Awesome.
It was equal parts creepy, cute, scary, and sweet, as any Tim Burton movie should be.
We didn't know before hand that the movie was going to be in 3D (our local theater is so small I didn't think they could even show 3D) but I was glad that it was.  It just made it that much more awesome.
I have to say that the fact that the guy who played McLovin in Superbad does the voice of the bully made me laugh.
Here's what I wore:
A movie with zombies, I wore a zombie shirt. I crack myself up with my own dorkyness.

And my 3D glasses!
Has anyone else seen the movie yet? What did you think?
Now I have to go be responsible and write my first speech for speech class. Wish me luck!

Finally Content

I just got out of my final class for the week (ok, I got out like 2 hours ago and I was being lazy) and I'm pretty happy with how the week turned out.
I went to my new Tuesday/Thursday class and I LOVE it.  My teacher is really nice and funny.  It's a pretty small class, which I like and it seems like it's going to be an interesting semester.
As some of you may have noticed, I've been doing an outfit a day type thing.  I like the idea of it and I'm going to try and keep it up!
Here is what I wore on the first day:

I have been wanting this shirt for FOREVER and Zumiez finally had it in my size!

Wednesday:

My first Young & Reckless shirt :)
And finally today's:

How has everyone's week been so far?  Anyone else starting back to school?

What a day...

As many of you know, yesterday was my first day back at college.  It went really well, and I optimistically hoped today would too.
I was wrong.
I got to my history class only to discover that I had enrolled myself if what can only be described as the craziest damn class I have ever been forced to sit in for an hour and a half.  I knew from just a few minutes in, I had to get the hell out of there.
I knew one of my friends was taking a Developmental Psychology class (something I've been wanting to take) so as soon as I could, I ran and switched my schedule up.  It was stressful and a bit time consuming, but all is settled now.
Here is a shitty mirror shot of what I wore today:

Please ignore my dorky face and the powerade bottle in both photos.
I love this shirt because it has cassette tapes on it with paint splatters and drips.
How is everyone's week going?

Band Battle: All Time Low vs. Blood on the Dance Floor

This morning, as per usual, I read through my twitter timeline as I drank a cup of coffee to catch up on what I had missed during the night.  What I found was an onslaught of tweets trashing either All Time Low or Blood on the Dance Floor.  Being both confused and curious I did a little research to see what was going on.
Back in July, All Time Low did an interview discussing their band, music, and being on Warped Tour.
During the interview, Alex (lead singer) made a joke about BOTDF
Here's an image from Tumblr showing it:
When watching the video, it seems that the statement was meant as a joke.  However, one member of BOTDF did not see it that way and took to twitter with his response:
And in the blink of an eye, the internet shit storm began.
Alex soon responded to this statement with:
Followed by:
BOTDF then added:
Did the comment that Alex made a bit rude? Yeah, but if you know the way they goof around in interviews (and in general) it (again) seems as if he is joking.  Even if he was serious and said this out of pure meanness and hate, BOTDF's response was over the top, inappropriate, and uncalled for.  I understand that he was hurt and wanted to make a stand and show that he was mad and did not appreciate the comment that was made, but there were a lot of different ways he could have handled the situation.  Instead of saying something meaningful or intelligent that expressed his feelings, he fought what he saw as hate, with more hate.  Seeing as his band is constantly bombarded with insults, you would think he would be more careful with his words.
I personally feel that this response was just...too much.  It only made the situation 10x worse and started a battle of the fans.
What do you guys think about this situation? Let me know in the comments below!
Remember, this is my opinion and only an opinion!

Wing Tip Make-up Attempt 1

A few days ago, I was pretty bored and decided to give wing tip eye make up a try. I did one eye in purple and one in black (just to see how each looked).  I kinda like it, but I'm on the fence about wearing it.
Eye closed
Final product (plus a lovely view of my beloved camera)

Attempted artsy shot

I really like the way the black turned out better than the purple.  The shade of purple just didn't really work with my skin tone.

Excitement

This past week has been insanely busy!
Monday I went shopping with my mom to get some new jeans and such for the upcoming school year (yes i still go back to school shopping with my mom, don't judge) and found my new favorite shirt
On Wednesday I went shopping with Hailey for boots and found these lovely's
They make me about a half inch taller, but they are so cute I don't even care,
Then on Thursday, I went to see House of Heroes, William Beckett, HelloGoodBye, and Relient K with Hailey, Reso, and Dillon, where we met up with a few other friends.

We also got to meet the guys from House of Heroes! :)

I had a lot of fun with my friends, and all the bands were amazing!
More to come!

Last night, alternative/electronic band Awaken the Empire's tour van was stolen in San Antonio, Texas.
The 2010 white Ford E-350 12 passenger van contained all of the bands gear, money, clothing, etc.
A paypal account has been set up where people can donate money to help the band.  Donations can be made to damien@awakentheempire.com

Wild Fires

The past few days, there have been many wild fires that are burning out of control all around the state.  People in several different counties were forced to evacuate their homes as the fires intensified.  The fires are suspected to caused by arson, as multiple witnesses said they saw vehicles throwing pieces of burning news paper out of car and truck windows before speeding away.
Here are a few photo's from various news stations of the fires (i do not take credit for these):

The aftermath of one area

Even the areas that were not in the fire's path were affected as smoke covered the sky and ash fell like rain across the state.  All day Saturday, the sky put off an eerie copper glow as if a filter hand been placed over the sun.  As evening approached, the clouds of smoke became more visible and began to eat the sun, which had turned into an electric red ball.  Before the ash fall got bad, I ran out and took a few pictures of the sky where I live (not directly effected by the fires)

The white and grey "clouds" were actually a mixture of smoke and ash.
Later last night, we were watching television when we heard things blowing violently outside and hail hitting our house.  When we looked out the windows, we could smell smoke very strongly.  The lights began to flicker on and off and we ran to our front door to see what was going on.  When we looked out, we saw something bright orange flash a block from us.  Fearing it might be another fire, we jumped in our car (I had to wear a mask due to the fast falling ash and my asthma) to see if it was indeed a fire.  Luckily, it was just a street light flashing as electricity flickered on and off.  During our drive, we saw that the storm had flipped our dumpster, and thrown many of our neighbors dumpster into the street, and someones basketball hoop toppled over.  A street over, people were picking up branches that had been ripped from their trees.
The bright side of this storm is it seems to have helped the firemen put out some of the fires, although there are still a few burning today.
Please keep the victims of this tragedy in your hearts, as the coming days will not be easy.

If You Were A Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack EP

I've known about the band Sleeping with Sirens for a while now, but I never really stopped to truly listen to them until recently.  If you haven't ever heard them before, I highly recommend looking them up.  The band recently released an acoustic EP called If you were a movie, this would be your soundtrack, and I am OBSESSED with it.  Each song on the EP is well written and beautiful, and lead vocalist Kellin Quinns voice is clear and angelic (a term I rarely use when describing any vocalist besides Craig Owens).

Track List:
1.James Dean and Audrey Hepburn
2.Roger Rabbit
3.Stomach Tied in Knots
4.Don't You Ever Forget About Me
5.With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear

I also recommend listening to the bands cover of Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.
Enjoy!

Music Fair or Foul?

Most people ( I assume) have probably heard of the reality singing competition The Voice.  Last season, Juliet Simms, front woman of the band Automatic Loveletter, came in second to fellow contestant Jermaine Paul.  Previous to her time on the voice, Juliet and her band had released two albums, Truth or Dare, and The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On.

This season, a few other musicians seem to be following in Simms footsteps.  Former lead singer of the band Hey Monday and current solo artist, Cassadee Pope has auditioned for this upcoming season of The Voice.
Hey Monday also released two albums, Hold on Tight, and Beneath it All, followed by Candles - EP.  After the band went on hiatus in 2011, Pope released a solo EP.

Auditioning along side Pope is Artist Vs. Poet singer, Joe Kirkland.  Artist Vs. Poet has released 5 (fairly short) albums, Alive Once Again, Artist Vs. Poet, Damn Rough Night EP, Favorite Fix, and Remember This

Alive Once Again

Damn Rough Night
Favorite Fix
Remember This
Now you may be asking yourself, "Why is Jessie rambling on about these musicians/ contestants and the music they have released?"  I do have a reason.  When it comes to competing, is it really fair to put people new to performing up against these musicians who have been signed, released more than one album, and already have fan bases that range from moderate to insane?
I'm not saying that the three above are entitled or undeserving.  I really like all of these people.  I've been listening to Hey Monday since their start and plan to buy Cassadee's EP, I've seen Artist Vs. Poet live FTSK, and I really enjoy Automatic Loveletter's music.  They are all extremely talented.
My only thought is, does having a past in music give them an advantage?  They are all fairly well known, they know the scene, they've been trained professionally, and they've all performed live.  They know how to work a crowd, and isn't that a good part of the performance?
What are your thoughts? Do you have an opinion about this? Drop me a comment.  I would really like to see what everyone thinks!
