What I'm Reading

Being the nerd that I am, I of course asked for multiple books for Christmas.  The one that I was most excited to start reading was Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh.
This is the second book in the Nevermore series and so far is absolutely wonderful and everything I hoped it would be.
The first book, Nevermore, is one of my favorites of all time.  It's well written and is an extremely heart wrenching tale.  It has the basic start of the cheerleader who is paired with the goth kid for a school project and begins to fall in love with him.
Sound typical? It's not at all.
The story takes twists you wouldn't expect and constantly has you on the edge of your seat.
The best part?
Edgar Allen Poe and his works are an integral part of the books plot.  The book is laced with Poe's poems, his history, and the mystery that surrounded his death.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that Nevermore is a must read, as well as its sequel Enshadowed.  I highly recommend it.

Has anyone else read either of these books?  If so, let me know what you think!  I love hearing other peoples thoughts and opinions on books.

Bryan Stars 2nd interview with NeverShoutNever

Some of you may or may not have seen the most recent interview that Bryan Stars did with Christopher Drew and Never Shout Never.  After watching it, I wanted to get my thoughts about it out.
I'm going to say know that this is my opinion and only an opinion!
After watching the interview, I was very sad and disappointed about the way Chris and the rest of the band treated Bryan.  If you are familiar with Christopher and the group you may know that they claim to be about peace and love and loving and excepting everyone.  Those beliefs were not demonstrated here. The interview starts and you can tell that they just are not into it at all.  It seemed as if they went in with the a bad attitude and an intention to be rude and disrespectful.  As the interview continues, the band members are unresponsive and cold.
Christopher then proceeded to tell Bryan Stars that his interviews are a joke and his questions are stupid.  He claimed that the entire interview was focused on him and not on the other two members, Taylor and Hayden.
HOLD THE DAMN PHONE SIR
Questions were directed to all 3 of the members.  Taylor did respond with somewhat insightful answers, but Hayden was just unresponsive and uncaring.  His answers consisted of "yep" "yeah" and "nope".
Bryan Stars interviews are notorious for being silly and entertaining, but that doesn't make them a "joke".  He has a style that incorporates both serious and funny questions.  Sure, they aren't the most professional interviews, but they are GOOD.  They make people smile and they provide this atmosphere that make people favorite musicians and icons seem really down to earth.  His interviews are supposed to be FUN.  And he really seems to like what he does.  He drives long distances just to be able to do these interviews and I find it really sad that his work was met with cruelty.  Also, those questions that the band finds so "stupid"?  They were submitted by the bands fans....
If they really didn't like the style of the interview, they could have just said no.  They've done one with him in the past and it was really good (there is a clip from it at the beginning of the above video).  They knew going in what it was going to be like.  There were so many more diplomatic ways that the situation could have been handled.
Chris stated that he was only being "real" because they were "real musicians".  I'm sorry but there is a difference between being real and being mean.
I really used to look to Chris and the band.  They seemed so caring and passionate about what they were doing.  And I'm sure they still are passionate for their music.  They just seem to have lost that love and passion they once had for their fans.  They let their egos get the best of them.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't like him or his music.  This is just my opinion about a band that I've been listening to since my sophomore year in HS.
Maybe Chris should remember his roots.  He wasn't always a very well known musician.  Once upon a time he was just a kid on Myspace and Youtube trying to make a name for himself.  Kinda like Bryan....
Hopefully I didn't babble or ramble on to much in this.
As I was looking through Youtube responses, I found one that kinda sums up how I feel about this interview:
Thanks for listening (reading?) my ramblings everyone!

Vampire Kisses comes to an end.

Some of you may have read or heard of the vampire kisses book and manga series.
There are 9 books...

 and 4 graphic novels...

A few days ago I finished reading the final installment to the book series.  It really took the plot and brought it to a close with a neat little bow on top.
Where these books the most intellectual and well written books on the planet? No.  But they have a great story line and a strong alternative female main character.  The books were cute and kind of nerdy and absolutely wonderful.  If you are looking for an easy series to read that can hold your interest, definitely check these out.
I will definitely miss reading new installments of these lovely little books...

The Raven

Saturday night, my friends and went to see the movie The Raven
Now, I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say that I thought this movie was absolutely AMAZING!!  I'm a bit of a Poe nerd to begin with, but I'm pretty sure this movie made me even more of a fan.  John Cusack plays this role exceptionally well, and portrays Poe just as I would expect him to be.
While it was a bit gory at times (would you expect anything less?), it had an excellent plot and was suspenseful from start to finish.
Definitely a movie I would go see more than once!

Fearless Friends Tour 2011

This being the beginning of 2012, I thought I'd post the concert review I meant to do, you know 2 weeks ago!
*Warning: Pic heavy!*
On December 11, 2011 Hailey, her boyfriend Dillon, her brother Cameron, his girlfriend Rachael, and myself went to see the Fearless Friends concert.
Hailey, Me, and Rachael
Dillion, Hailey, and me
When we got to the venue there were two lines wrapping around the building, one for those who had tickets already, and one for those who didn't.  It was insane! I've never in my entire concert going experience see that many people crammed into this particular venue. The place was packed!
The first band to play was Chunk! No Captain Chunk! Sadly, we didn't get to see them too well because we had just got in the building and were literally trapped in front of the merch tables.  I don't have any pictures of them from the show so here's one from google:
We finally became mobile between sets and found a good spot near the back, where we watched the next band, Tonight Alive. Hailey and I had seen them once before and they did not disapoint!

While it was packed, the crowd remained fairly tame. This all changed with the next band, Motionless in White.  Now, many of you know, I love this band (my review of them is my highest rated and it makes me so happy!). However, Hailey wasn't the biggest fan.  Luckily, seeing them live made her truly like them. Mission Accomplished! Here's a few pics from their set:
Keyboardist
Immaculate Misconception middle finger salute

My favorite pic
Guitarist

They were amazing live! The crowd went balistic, surfing, moshing, and doing what we coined "The Wall of Death".  Now I'm always game for a good mosh pit, however, I didn't want to die, so again we stayed back. (Inadvertently witnissing what will forever be known as The Man Boob Mosh Pit - name courtesy of Cameron.)
Next was The Word Alive:

"Come at me bro!"

Finally, BlessTheFall played.  What was really cool, was that they had some kind of problem with their van and had to race to make the show. They could have bailed on the show, but instead they ran like hell to make it. I admire that kind of dedication.
They gave one of the craziest, most intense shows I think I have ever seen. There were a good twenty stage divers and had a fun game of "come kiss elliot" where girls could jump up on stage and kiss their bassist. It was hilarious!
Here's some pics:

and another stage diver

It was an amazing show and I'm so glad I got to see it with some of my favorite people!
I hope you guys don't mind all the pics, I just love to post as many as I can!
Hope you enjoyed!
