Where did the time go?

Long time no see my lovely blogger friends! I'm sorry I've neglected this blog, but it's time for a catch up!
So, what have I been up to?
Way back in July I went with my mom to Tulsa's new free music festival, the Center of the Universe Festival!
Escaping the heat in the Vanguard"s bathroom.
It was an amazing festival!  The bands that we went to see were Ok Go and Neon Trees

Not long after that, I went with my mom to the Rock Allegiance Tour featuring Airbourne, All That Remains, HIM, and Volbeat.

Then at the beginning of October, I met up with my friend Rachael to go see All Time Low, Pierce the Veil, and A Day To Remember on the House Party Tour.

A Day To Remember fucking killed it! Their effects were amazing.  Probably one of the best concerts I have been to in quite a while!

Later that same month, I went to see Taking Back Sunday with Rachael and her friend Sarah.

I also finished up my 5th semester of college!  And I made 2 pretty amazing friends along the way, Kindra and DJ

It's been a pretty damn good year!
If you are interested in my photography, it would mean a lot to me if you would check out my Flickr.
I love you guys so much, and I will hopefully get more posts up soon!

When It All Fall Apart

Just like the changing of the seasons, it is inevitable that some bands parts ways, some amicably, others not so much. Usually the "band" stays together replacing a guitarist here, a drummer there, and sometimes getting a new lead singer. The displaced members will often start a new band.  I generally don't have too much of a problem with new members (or, as my friend calls them, spin off bands), as long as the band continues to produce quality music. However, I have noticed that many do not have the same opinion.  They have their favorite members and if this person leaves or is replaced they become quite angry, to the point of refusing to listen to the band anymore.
In the case of Taking Back Sunday, who has lost original members, gained new members, lost those and gain the original members back in the end, I don't really mind that much.  I may say "oh, how sad, he was talented" or something of the like, but when it comes down to it, I still love them and their music and will always listen.
In the case of "Spin off" bands I usually end up listening to both. The music is often the same genre and "type" that I like so I might as well listen to both.
There are some cases where, like that of Escape the Fate and Falling in Reverse, where the fan choose sides and the war is on. Personally, I still like both. *Puts on helmet in case rocks are thrown* I like old and new Escape the Fate and Falling in Reverse. The music is good and that's what matters to me.

Falling in Reverse
I refuse to take sides. I was actually leery of taking on this topic as I know that many people do get offended about this type of thing and that is not what this blog is about. It's to appreciate music, share it with others, and hopefully meet some people who share the same taste. But I wanted to see what my lovely readers thought. So here it is:
How do you feel about bands when they replace members, or break up and start new bands?

My First Concert (kinda)

Here's my first installment of band/ concert reviews! And what better way than to start with my first real concert? (I saw Hilary Duff when I was ten but I don't usually mention that so shh.....)
This concert was the day before Thanksgiving 2009 and I was a very last minute affair for me.  My friend ended up with an extra ticket and I asked me to go with her only 2 days previous.  I was more than a bit excited since AAR is one of my favorite bands and has been for a very long time. I had heard Anberlin and TBS before and knew that this concert was going to be amazing. When we got to the venue, me, my friend and her brother hit the merch tables before merging in with the crowd. Anberlin was up first and they gave a wonderful performance and sparking my interest in their music. (I'm a huge fan now, although I prefer their older stuff.) After their set my friend and I stood to the side and tried to cool off a bit.  We soon got a phone call from her brother saying we needed to get to the merch tables in the side bar.A bit confused, we headed that way. This is when we met Anberlins guitarist.
Joey Bruce and I
Excited and hyped up on adrenaline, we ran back to the stage to see Taking Back Sunday. I have to say they are one of my favorite bands to see live. They are very energenic and keep up a witty banter with the crowd. Soon after them, the All American Rejects took the stage.
We were pretty far back, but you can still see Tyson striking a silly pose in this photo
I was thrilled. We jumped around and screamed along to the lyrics (although he changed the words up a few times, for reasons unknown). About half way through there set, we received another text. Get over here if you wanna meet Adam Lazzara from TBS. Needless to say, we ran like hell. Not wanting to seem like stalker fans, we gave him his space and let him talk to a few other concert goers. As soon as he wasn't busy, we casually aproached and asked for a picture. He was very freindly and was more then happy to take a picture with us.
Me, Adam Lazzara, Hailey
We caught the last of the rejects show, then made our way out of the venue. I was exhausted and sweaty but happier then you would believe. This may sound a bit cheesy but this concert confirmed my dream of working in the music business. I will never forget that night. I'm so glad Hailey had an extra ticket (and that her brother let us know everytime he saw a band member. Thank you Cameron!)
