Cause The Lights They Shine So Bright

Anyone else enjoy that Guns N' Roses reference? Good.
Over Thanksgiving break I started a project in my room that was originally meant to just be for the holiday season.  I bought four or five strands of white Christmas lights from Walmart and covered by entire room in them.  Now that I have them done, I think I will be leaving them up year round :)
This is how it turned out:

Hope everyone enjoyed this little photo spam of my room!

Tarot

I have been interested in Tarot for quite some time now.  A few weeks ago, I decided to give it a shot and bought my first Tarot deck.  I bought the Crystal Visions deck by Jennifer Galasso.
I thought this deck was exceptionally beautiful.  I've been learning the meanings for each card and so far, I've really enjoyed it!
Because I've been so interested, my nana bought me the Steampunk Tarot deck for Christmas
The book that comes with this deck is detailed and very helpful.
Does anyone else read Tarot or have an interest in it?

What I'm Reading

Being the nerd that I am, I of course asked for multiple books for Christmas.  The one that I was most excited to start reading was Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh.
This is the second book in the Nevermore series and so far is absolutely wonderful and everything I hoped it would be.
The first book, Nevermore, is one of my favorites of all time.  It's well written and is an extremely heart wrenching tale.  It has the basic start of the cheerleader who is paired with the goth kid for a school project and begins to fall in love with him.
Sound typical? It's not at all.
The story takes twists you wouldn't expect and constantly has you on the edge of your seat.
The best part?
Edgar Allen Poe and his works are an integral part of the books plot.  The book is laced with Poe's poems, his history, and the mystery that surrounded his death.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that Nevermore is a must read, as well as its sequel Enshadowed.  I highly recommend it.

Has anyone else read either of these books?  If so, let me know what you think!  I love hearing other peoples thoughts and opinions on books.

R.I.P Mitch Lucker

On November 1, 2012, Mitch Lucker, vocalist for Suicide Silence, was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Mitch was a huge influence to metal music and will be missed greatly by his fans.
He leaves behind a wife and 5 year old daughter Kenadee.

The other members of Suicide Silence set up the Kenadee Lucker Education Foundation.
Photographer Jeremy Saffer is selling prints of the photo's he has taken of Mitch over the years.  Proceeds from these sales will be donated to the foundation as well.  These prints can be found here.

Meet Boogie Boy :)

As many of you may already know from one of my previous posts, I lost my dog Lucy about a month ago.  This really took a toll on my whole family.  What was worse was that she wouldn't be around for Christmas (something that I still don't know how to handle).  We all agreed that Christmas was going to be far too quiet.  So, as a family, we decided to do something that we had been planning to do for a while now.
We got a kitten.
Meet Boogie Boy :)
(And yes I got his name from Oogie Boogie from the Nightmare Before Christmas)
He's made me so happy, you guys have no idea.  He's a bit hyper, but sweet as can be.  He's also a total lap cat, which I LOVE.  He also tends to lick people like a dog would and it is so damn cute!
And without further ado, here's some kitten photo spam!

And this is where he likes to sleep...

Tragedy in Connecticut

On December 17, 2012 there was a shooting in Newtown Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
27 people lost their lives.  20 children, 6 adults, and the shooters mother (along with the shooter himself) were killed.
I will not be putting the shooters name in this post in a personal boycott of a media driven society that turns criminals and killers into celebrities.  I don't want to give the glory of recognition to someone who is capable of causing so much pain.
Instead, I will be honoring the children and courageous teachers who lost their lives.

When this tragedy struck, not only this nation but countries around the world were brought to their knees.  The loss in Connecticut was felt by every mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, daughter, and son in the world.
Immediately, people wanted someone to blame.  The gun law debate became a war on social networking sites.  A few people brought to the surface that it is not only guns, but mental health care that should be regulated (something I agree with).
How many times does this have to happen?  How many students have to lose their lives?  How long must we live in fear?  School is supposed to be a place of learning, of safety.  Not a place of fear.

Please keep the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy in your thoughts, hearts, and prayers.

Halloween 2012

Wow, this post is seriously late!  But better late than never :)
This Halloween is one of the best I've had in a while.  At first I thought that it would just be me, my mom, and my nana watching movies.  Then I got a call from a friend asking me to go trick-or-treating.
Now you may be asking yourselves, "Jessie, you are 19 years old.  Did you really go trick-or-treating?"
Yes, yes I did :)
I threw on my cat ears
Gave myself cat eyes
Best photo I had of them
And drew on some whiskers
And was out the door!
I went with my friends Faith, Dustin, and Wyatt.  We went through one of the major neighborhoods in our town, which meant we got to see some other people we knew as we went.
It was nothing crazy.  No wild parties or insane stories, but I got to be with my friends and have fun.  I spent time with someone who is special to me and will forever be close to my heart.
I had one hell of night :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

R.I.P Lucy

Today I lost my best friend.
The one that's been by my side since I was six years old.
I can barely remember my life without her.
She was my dog, Lucy.

I will miss you more than you will ever know.

Howdy Strangers :)

It's been a while once again, but now I'm feeling creative and back into my writing zone!
Over the next week you will probably be bombarded with post catching you up on what's been going on with me, as well as some music news that's been occurring recently!

I love you guys and thank you so much for sticking with me through everything <3

Absence makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Or at least I hope so!  Sorry I've been gone so long guys.  Things have been fucking crazy lately, in a lot of good ways and a few not so good.  But I'm done living my life worried about negativity.  I'm just gonna find my happiness and try not to stress too much about anything else.
Here's some pics from one of the very good things that happened this past weekend, the New Years Day and BOTDF concert.  I met Ash Costello and she signed my ticket!!
And I got to hang out with some pretty great friends :)

They just love the camera.
Hope everyone is well :)

Fun at the State Fair

This past Tuesday, my mom and I went to the local state fair to shop and things that are horribly bad for you.
We had a few errands to run before and while we were out my nana called to tell us that Micheal's was having a sale on their Halloween stuff, so of course we went there first!  All that I got there will be revealed in my upcoming massive Halloween post! mwahahaha!!
Anywho, since we were over in that area, we decided to run into Barnes & Nobles and Party City.
When we went into Barnes & Nobles, I only planned on grabbing a few magazines I've been wanting and heading out.  Well that didn't happen, because on our way to the check out I saw the magical Nightmare Before Christmas display they had.  It was wonderful :)
I ended up getting the cutest little Jack plushy and a POP! vinyl Sally toy.
I love them so much!
Next we went to Party City where I found skull shot glasses for 99 cents and the prettiest spider necklace.

And now the world knows I have a fleckley chest. Oh, well.
Finally, we headed to the fair!
When we got there, we instantly headed to the buildings and started shopping! Here's all the goodies we stumbled across in the first building:
Spirit hood!

Camera face
Fang Necklace!
More freckle chest...sorry...
Skull Ring!

Mustache ring!

We then headed over to the other building, where among the shopping, my mom and I decided that I should hop on a wooden pony attraction prop they had and have my picture taken
Natural born cowgirl right here.  I totally don't look out of place or anything....
We then proceeded to shop.  Now this is where I got just a liiiitle bit nerdy.  You guys know how I love Black Butler and Death Note?  Well, I found some booths that sold stuff for them.  Like this:
Black Butler!!!!!!
As for Death Note, I found a lanyard with L on it and *drum roll* A DEATH NOTE NOTEBOOK!! with some 3D pictures and glasses.

It's got all the rules in it and everything! *nerding out*
Anyways, I also grabbed some hello kitty sunglasses!

Before we left we took one more picture:
I had so much fun hanging out with my momma! It left us both dead tired but was totally worth it.
Now, I'm going to go eat some chili that my nana made because it is finally cold outside!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
